Ultrasonic Plastic Welders : Sonitek S840/S870 and the typical components that are used in the ultrasonic welding process.

Index Device Function
Down Speed Control Controls horn rate of descent. Return rate is fixed.
WELD TIME Control Set duration of ultrasonics (0.1 to 4 seconds).
HOLD TIME Control Set duration of clamping pressure on part after exposure to ultrasonics (.05 to 3 seconds).
Pressure Indicator Indicates pressure applied to air cylinder.
Pressure Regulator Adjusts pressure to air cylinder.
Loading Meter Indicates ultrasonic power
Overload Indicator/Reset Switch Indicates power supply overload. Also resets overload indicator when optional protection indicator module is on the latched mode.
ON-OFF Switch Applies main power to system
HORN DOWN/TESTUltrasonics Switch Horn Down position. Lowers Horn when one palm button is depressed. TEST ULTRASONICS position: Energizes power supply for tuning the system.
Dynamic Trigger (TRIGGER PRESSURE)Control Controls Pre-clamp pressure prior to ultrasonic energy being applied.
Pilot Light Indicates when main power is on or off.
Tuning Control Adjustment for optimizing power supply performance.
Anti Tie-Down Palm (START) Buttons Activates the system when pressed simultaneously.
Emergency STOP TWIST TO RESET Button Interrupts welding cycle and causes horn to retract. Pull out to reset.
Column Clamp Locks head assembly in position
Elevator Knob Permits vertical movement for gross height adjustment and is counter balanced.
Fuse Overload protection
Mechanical Stop Controls depth of weld and acts as safety device to protect horn and fixture.
Base Cable Connector Connects actuator to base assembly.
Chrome Plated Column Provides smooth, easy head height and swivel adjustment.
